Every so often an artist comes along who can not only hold their own with the current sound, but can take that sound to a completely different level all on their own. The artists with this power are a rare breed, and in a time when lack of creativity dulls our genre, Sho-Down’s light shines brighter than ever. Nathan Murphree, a.k.a. Sho-Down, possesses that power to push the entire genre into a higher level.

He was born June 27, 1982 in Birmingham, AL. His father was a musician so it is said that he has music in his blood. At a young age, he was getting into some trouble and with the persuasion of his own heart, and some important figures in his life, he turned to music. He developed a love for it early and decided it was a great way to keep his mind busy and focused.

At age 7, he began a 4 year term of piano lessons which still prove effective over a decade later. In his later teens he began making music on his own. Unable to find other producers to furnish his vocals, he took it upon himself, with his training and natural talent, to produce his own music. Through the years he developed musical knowledge and experience which spawned into the creation of his own production company Rock It Productions in 2001.

By this time he had already developed a strong style and achieved a professional sound. Once Rock It Productions was established, his first step to his ultimate goal was to create a website that provided a place for hungry rappers to get free beats for expanding themselves as well as providing a place for established rappers to purchase exclusive rights to the material for their upcoming releases. In just over three years, his websites have received more than six million downloads. It is clear that not only is the style he has created unique, but it is also accepted well by rappers and rap fans alike.
