If u want some mo clarity in ya mixes, EQ some lows out of every track that doesn't need em. Use a low shelf (HI PASS) with a semi wide, to wide Q. I would cut 140 - 200 hz on down. The amount u cut on each individual track is up to you. (in regards to db) If you have a bass line in the beat cut more. If not, cut less. This will give your kick and bass some breathing room and the kick especially will cut through the mix better. The kicks Nyquist frequency (initial or main frequency resides around 160 hz) so this technique will give your kick some clarity. Also, this will help all your other tracks cut through with a little more clarity. Don't apply this to snares tho. A lot of times the snares body, or crack will reside close to this frequency. Unless of course u want a thinner snare for layering with a fatter snare. Claps are ok tho. Don't EQ anything until you have it tracked out in cool edit. Leave ya FL session flat. Play around enough and you'll get the hang of it. Try it out and hit me up with the first Sho Down EQ'd beat…..1
