damn sho…i need a better mix! putting this L3 limiter didnt do anything…how do u make ya sound that full and strong? do u stack drums and put any instrument in a seperate channel…route channels to several other channels and then into the master…?
the trick to using a limiter is to boost the input to what sounds as clear and loud as possible while stopping the sounds from clipping. try setting the threshhold higher and setting the limit to like -1,-2 and see what kind of sound u get from it..
1. Make the beat in Fruity Loops
2. Extract each part as 32 Bit .wav files
3. Open all the parts in Cool Edit, adjust volumes, I usually turn up each part +1 or +2.
4. Mix the beat how I want it, then mix it down as a .wav file, then run it through Waves L2, I set Threshold to -2.0, Out Ceiling to -0.00, Release to 0.10, 24 bit, Type2 Dither, Ultra Shaping.
I always stack drums, layering is the key for drums to make them thick.
That Flo-Rida "Low" remix I put up, I’ve got 4 kicks layered and 9 snares lol, so you gotta layer.
My mixes use to be pretty bad back in the day, I had some cheap Soundblaster soundcard, then I upgraded to an M-Audio Delta 44 card, my mixes got better but not good as they are now.
Seems like when I started using VSTs my mixes got really good. The vst stock sounds and effects are really good, like with Nexus, the reverb is really clean so it brings a lot of atmosphere to the beat on it’s own.
see and i use either l1 or l3 multi and works ok ut i usually drop the threshold to anywhere from -3 to -5 and the ceiling -.02 just to leave room to play
