what s up sho , gotta question from that mixing and mastering thread post earlier you said:
Then I tranfer the .wav files of the beat over to Cool Edit Pro to mix the beat, once I'm done mixing the beat I run the final mix through Waves L2 to increase the overall thickness and sound of the beat without clipping
I hate to be a pest but how do you do this can you explain it plz!
I make great beats w/ fl studio but my beats always come out thin not thick like yours. i mix and render in fl studio. i dont use much eq either but i do comp. with my waves bundle but still come out thin. hell, i even bought protools 8 w/mbox 2 for $800 and cant make magic like you do! would you mind givin me alittle help plz thanks a million!
oh i have cool edit pro and L2 but i guess their just sitting on my computer ive had em for years i feel so stupid!
I mix some beats in FL Studio and some in Cool Edit Pro, so that has nothing to do with my quality. Only reason I mix certain beats in Cool Edit Pro is so when people Lease a beat I can send them the tracked out .wav “loops” rather than the full length .wav files..
E-mail me one of your beats and I'll listen to it RockItCEO @ gmail.com or post a link to your site.
sho, could you post the tips/comments that sent to Achilles here. coz im having the same problem lol …. i also use waves l2 but my beats still sound really 'thin'
man reading some of these forums, you realize you can't find better service out there. If there was an equivalent nobel prize customer service award, Sho-Down would win hands down mouth shut.
Basically to beef up your beats you need to layer your drums and sounds. Try not to use cheap sounding instruments first of all, the worst are usually horn/brass sounds that ruin a beat if they sound too thin.
If you can't get good sounds then play around with layering different instruments with each other, like a deep piano with a hard synth sound, just experiment. Play with Reverb and Compression, panning, etc.
I add “atmosphere” sounds in my beats a lot of the time too, very subtle pads, synth sounds, or little drum sounds to fill up the empty space.
lol no doubt Randy, I try to help out when I have the time.
